A Basic Pattern is a pattern that exactly fits to your body and becomes a foundational template for all your future designs. This is the very beginning to start to make your own clothing.
Once you have your basic bodice, you can get shirts, t-shirts, blouses, dresses, jackets, and any other kind of top such as jumpers, corsets, tanks and waistcoats.
There are many pattern making systems and methods to make a pattern such as Lutterloh, Bon Fit, the Sixth System, the Pattern Drafter and Invest, just to name some.
Through the years I have used many of them, and I've found that quite often they are not suitable for every body shape. So, that is how I've ended up developing my own system, which is a mix of those ones that I've used, combined with my experience and my own judgment.
To make your own Basic Pattern Block, you can either take the 'Back to Basics Course', or, if you have experience and feel brave here are the guides and instructions to use it at home.
